Rhino
Rhino is a 3D programme used to create models using curves and surfaces. These models are based on mathematical calculations and control points (called NURBs), making Rhino an extremely precise tool. With Rhino we can design very complex shapes with high accuracy.
Grasshopper
Grasshopper is an add-on for Rhino that makes it possible to work with parametric modelling. This means that we can design using a visual programming language where components are connected and adjusted based on certain parameters.
For example, if we need to change the width of a box from 29.5 mm to 30.2 mm, we can simply change one number and all related parts will adjust automatically. Grasshopper also makes it easy to create complex and organic shapes, which is why it is also popular among architects.
